Percon Program Generator

Percon Program Generator (PPG) takes the programming out of programming. With PPG and a PT2000, you can begin tracking inventory within hours, not weeks, saving time and money.

PPG allows you to design customized data collection applications for the PT2000 by simply creating, filling in and linking dialog boxes. Running in a Windows environment, PPG uses a graphical user interface (GUI) and a mouse. Once you've created your application program, PPG automatically compiles it into the format needed for the portable. There's no difficult programming language to learn.

How PPG Works

It’s simple. Using pull-down menus, you select the “building blocks” — Frames and Nodes — you need to create and label a flowchart of your data collection tasks. Frames group Nodes into a logical sequence for each data collection task; Nodes customize the data collection sequence, format and style within each Frame. You simply point, click and drag the mouse from one Frame or Node to another to create the application.

Nodes

PPG provides you with 8 types of Nodes for creating a program:

  • Display Nodes specify the information that appears on the portable's screen.
  • Input Nodes specify where the information is coming from and in what register or file it should be stored. They also control the flow of the application based on the origin of the data.
  • Verify Nodes check the data against your pre-defined criteria.
  • Copy Nodes transfer information from one file or register to another. The number of registers and files possible is determined by the amount of memory available in your portable unit.
  • Modify Nodes allow modifications to selected data.
  • Math Nodes perform basic mathematical operations.
  • Output Nodes transfer data to specific destinations
  • Menu Nodes display menu options and branch the function selected by the user.

Frames and Nodes can be created, edited and linked in any sequence to fit your data collection needs. You can quickly modify your application as your work environment changes. You have complete control from start to finish.

Testing Your Application

PPG has a built-in emulator so you can test the data collection application you've created before installing it in your PT2000. On your screen, it runs through each Frame and Node as you've linked them, notifying you of any errors and where they occur.

Now all you need to do is install your application into your portable. Once that's done, you're ready to collect data.

Time and money that would have been spent tracking programming errors can now be spent implementing your data collection system.

You will find that both PPG and the PT2000 are extremely powerful, yet simple to use. Their unmatched performance can drastically increase your bottom line. Count on it!
